About Glasgow Sprout
Hi there, thanks for visiting! My name’s Erin, nice to meet you.
Glasgow Sprout is a food blog focused on vegetarian home cooking. We’re talking hearty, flexible, and easy recipes that prioritise vegetables and seek to bring out the best in them.
As the title of this blog might suggest, I’m based in Glasgow, Scotland. I came here from the Highlands over a decade ago and it’s been the place I happily call home ever since.
I started Glasgow Sprout on Instagram in mid-2020 because I was worried my friends might start to get fed up of the increasing number of food photos I was posting on my personal account. As time went on and more people were asking for recipes it made sense to start a blog where they had a home.
This is a space for me to share the food I enjoy making and eating. I’m vegetarian for environmental reasons, I enjoy the process of cooking from scratch, and I really love my vegetables. So, what I share here is going to be a reflection of that.
I’m not really one for referring to food as “healthy” or not – it’s a bit of a false dichotomy most of the time, plus people have wildly different ideas about what constitutes as healthy. Low-fat, low-calorie, sugar-free, low-sodium, nutrient-dense, protein-packed, clean, whole foods, unprocessed, gluten-free, natural, etc. etc. – are just some of the terms often used to bolster the claim that something is “healthy”. All foods can be part of a healthy diet!
Here on Glasgow Sprout no food is demonised and nor is any moral value placed on it. It’s just about good, delicious food you can make right at home.
